On SBTV, Ed Sheeran pays tribute to his friend Jamal Edwards

Nearly a year after Jamal Edwards' passing, Ed Sheeran released a song called F64 in his honor.

It was made available on Edwards' music service SBTV, where Sheeran first found success more than a decade ago.

The video for the song was shot at Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge stadium because Edwards had been a lifetime supporter of the team.

Brenda Edwards, the mother of the DJ and businesswoman, has also been advocating for greater CPR training in order to bring attention to her son's passing.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, should be performed if a person is unconscious or has trouble breathing.

In February 2022, Jamal Edwards, age 31, passed away from a heart arrhythmia after using recreational drugs.

Brenda Edwards said she was proud to continue on her son's legacy and that he always helped people when speaking on BBC Radio 5Live on Thursday.

"It has encouraged me to carry on doing what he used to do since he had such a big heart and was so giving to so many others.

She remarked, "It was an honor to spend time with Jamal; he inspired me every day, and his legacy continues to inspire me and so many others.

On his YouTube music station SBTV, Jamal Edwards is credited for helping to start the careers of Dave, Jessie J, and Sheeran.

He offered guidance and funding for the creation of music and videos for up-and-coming musicians.

Early in Sheeran's career, Edwards supported his music, and in 2010, he uploaded a performance video to YouTube.

Stuart Camp, who is now his manager, noticed it and gave him a record deal with Atlantic.

In his language-alarming freestyle song, Sheeran raps about spending more than a week with Brenda Edwards after Jamal Edwards passed away.

"Nine nights of crying were spent at your family's house. I spent the entire week at your mother's house, trying to understand but failing, and even after a year, I still feel agony in my heart "He claims.

With Jamal Edwards' name written out on the stadium seats visible in the background, the 31-year-old Grammy Award winner is illuminated in the stadium by a circle of candles.

He raps as well: "Since our last conversation, I've been a father of two and have been trying to live a happy life, but it's been harder to achieve.

"Since all I want to do is talk about you, but these tears make it impossible for me to do so. We ought to have understood that without you, we'd be lost."

He also mentions in the song that Edwards would have "loved hugging my young children" and laments the fact that he never got to meet Jupiter Sheeran, whose daughter he would have been godfather to.

When Sheeran released the music video for the song "Are You Entertained with Russ" in July, he also kept a promise he made to Edwards the previous year.

Sheeran used Edwards' original ideas to create the video in his honor after he passed away the day before it was scheduled to be shot and produced.
